Environment Artists

Environment artists are the people who create the levels you see within a game, from the small detailed bathroom in Silent Hill 2 to the detailed cities of the Halo series. Environment artists are a big part of the design for the game itself becuase they are required to create a majority of the levels ini emmense detail so it could take a concept artist hours to even draw a simple house, but this means that they are a very important part of the games or film creation.

 

Here are some of the job requirments for a Senior Environment artists



- Advanced knowledge of relevant 3D art packages – in particular Maya, but also 3D Studio Ability to advise/train/mentor others in both the tangible (3d packages etc) and non-tangible; (communication skills etc)Ability & enthusiasm to adapt to various art styles and tools if required.
- Demonstrable understanding of game development – likely to be gained from at least four years relevant experience
- Demonstrable creative thinking
- Good communication skills – both with other artists as well as other disciplines i.e. both on a technical and creative level
- A demonstrable passion for art Strong English speaking skills
- Ability to work as a positive, contributing team member
- Problem solving skills
